“Pataal Lok” actor Jaideep Ahlawat expressed surprise at the attention his dance in the song “Jaadu” from the upcoming film Jewel Thief: The Heisthas been receiving.
The video, showcasing Ahlawat—typically seen in intense roles in shows and films like “Pataal Lok”, “Jaane Jaan”, “Three of Us”, and “Action Hero”—has gone viral. Fans on social media were delighted to discover his unexpected dancing talent.
At the trailer launch of the film in Mumbai, Jaideep played down the reaction.
“I don’t understand why people are so amazed to see me dance. I’m from Haryana and have been dancing since I was a child at many ‘ghudchadis’ (wedding events). So, dancing feels natural,” he said.
“Even Saif sir mentioned the same—’Why are people so shocked that someone can dance?’,” he added, responding to the cheers and repeated media requests to recreate the dance steps, which he happily did.
The heist thriller stars Saif Ali Khan as a renowned thief recruited by Jaideep’s character to pull off a diamond robbery. The movie also features Kunal Kapoor and Nikita Dutta and is co-directed by Kookie Gulati and Robbie Grewal.
Dutta shared a fun anecdote: “Usually, when actors dance, others go rest. But when Jaideep sir was about to dance, everyone gathered to watch. We were like, ‘Jaideep sir is dancing!'”
Social media users lauded Jaideep as a versatile performer.

Some even suggested Bollywood should cast him in more commercial roles to highlight his dance abilities.
At the event, when asked what he’d steal from co-star Saif, Jaideep replied with a grin, “The Pataudi palace.”
