British star Tom Felton has hinted he’d be thrilled to surprise the younger version of Draco Malfoy — the character he famously portrayed — in the upcoming “Harry Potter” television reboot, perhaps even turning up in a minor background role.
The series, which is anticipated to begin production later this year, promises to be a more detailed adaptation of JK Rowling’s novels compared to the original eight-film saga.
“We’re all really thrilled to watch the magic continue. I can’t wait to knock on young Draco’s door and catch him off guard — something along those lines. I’m definitely planning to sneak into a scene as a background actor,” said Felton, who portrayed the troubled Slytherin Draco Malfoy throughout all eight “Harry Potter” films, in an interview with People magazine.
The original movie series starred Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint in the lead roles of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley.
Felton, now 37, shared that he and his fellow cast members still keep in touch through a WhatsApp group — though he didn’t name everyone involved.
“We’re still really close, very much connected. We’re often scattered all over the globe, so it’s hard to get everyone together. But the Slytherins and Gryffindors are on friendly terms,” he joked.
The “Succession” team of Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod has joined the new series, with Gardiner as showrunner and executive producer, and Mylod attached to direct several episodes while also serving as executive producer.
