Early Three Months After Attack on Saif Ali Khan, Police Submit Chargesheet in Mumbai CourtMH-COURT-SAIF ATTACK-CHARGESHEET

Mumbai, Apr 9 — Police have submitted a chargesheet in a Mumbai court concerning the attack on actor Saif Ali Khan at his residence in January, officials reported on Wednesday.

The chargesheet, prepared by Bandra police, contains evidence implicating the accused, a Bangladeshi national named Mohammad Shariful Islam, an official stated, without providing further details.

Khan, 54, was stabbed multiple times with a knife by an intruder inside his 12th-floor apartment located in the upscale Bandra locality on January 16.

The actor later underwent emergency surgery at a private hospital and was discharged five days after the incident.

Shariful Islam (30) was arrested on January 19 by police from neighbouring Thane district.

According to police, fragments of the knife — one that was lodged near Khan’s spine and another recovered from the crime scene — matched the weapon seized from the accused.

All three fragments were identified as parts of the same weapon used in the assault, police informed the court last week while opposing the accused’s bail plea.

The police added that the crime was of a “very serious nature” and there exists “strong evidence” against the accused.
