Warner Bros is moving forward with a new version of the 1992 classic “The Bodyguard,” with Sam Wrench, recognized for “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,” set to direct.
As reported by entertainment outlet Deadline, the script for the remake will be penned by Jonathan A Abrams.
Warner Bros Pictures’ co-chairs and CEOs, Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy, noted that casting decisions have yet to be finalized.
The original film, helmed by Mick Jackson, starred Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston in leading roles.
The story centers on Rachel (Houston), a celebrated performer who begins receiving threatening messages from a fan-turned-stalker. In response, she hires Frank (Costner), a former Secret Service officer, as her bodyguard. Over time, a romantic relationship unexpectedly develops between them.
