Salim Akhtar was a well known figure in Indian cinema, particularly known for his work in the 1980s and 1990s. As the founder of Aftab Pictures, he produced numerous landmark films, such as Qayamat (1983), Loha (1987), Batwara (1989), Phool Aur Angaare (1993), Baazi (1995), and Badal (2000).
One of Akhtar’s most notabl contributions was in launching the careers of famous actresses Rani Mukerji and Tamannaah Bhatia. He introduced Rani Mukerji to Bollywood through Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat (1997) and gave Tamannaah Bhatia her big break with Chand Sa Roshan Chehra (2005).
Akhtar was respected across the Hindi film industry for his honesty and directness. His passing has created a void in the Bollywood world, and his influence on Indian cinema will never be forgotten.
