Model and actor Malaika Arora believes athleisure is a “booming industry” in India and is here to stay.
The model, celebrated for hit dance numbers like “Chaiyya Chaiyya,” “Kaal Dhamaal,” and “Munni Badnam Hui,” graced the runway for designer Namrata Joshipura’s athleisure collection on the third day of Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI.
Arora strutted to the beats of rapper Hanumankind’s latest track, “Run It Up,” donning a dazzling black onesie paired with a jacket. She completed her ensemble with a sleek ponytail and black pencil heels.
“Athleisure is a massive industry. I genuinely support it—it’s what I wear, what I promote, and what I believe in… Athleisure is here to stay,” Arora told PTI at the post-show press conference on Friday evening.
Athleisure refers to stylish yet comfortable clothing designed for both workouts and everyday wear.
Arora’s Instagram bio describes her as “a wanderer in the world of fitness, fashion, and food.” When asked to pick the most important among these three passions, she said, “They are my three favorite Fs… How could I choose? I need all three—food, fitness, and fashion—to live my life.”
Despite years of experience on the ramp, Arora admitted she still gets nervous.
“Nervousness never truly fades,” she added.
Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI is set to conclude on Sunday.
